Illustrating the point

A series of illustrations commissioned by ‘The Swaddle’ - an online health, gender and culture magazine. One of the cornerstones of their content is a bank of well-researched articles relating to pre and post-pregnancy issues. This content is categorised into well defined buckets, and these illustrations accompany each of the bucket headers.

Special care was taken to ensure that none of the illustrations relied on any tropes associated with parenthood and pregnancy, or made any assumptions of the gender or sexual bias of the parent. Several rounds of sketches lead to a series of illustrations that are simple, bold and communicate the no-nonsense, non-fluffy nature of the content as well as the magazine as a whole.
